A Muslim American teenager from New York has "made up" a story that she had been harassed by Donald Trump supporters earlier this month. The New York Police Department has arrested her according to the Daily News.
18 years old, Yasmin Seweid, might face up to a year in jail.
Police sources told Daily News that Seweid has fabricated the story as she never wanted to get in trouble for breaking her curfew after being out late drinking with friends. Seweid also said allegedly that she lied to misdirect her parents , Egyptian immigrants, who had disapproved her boyfriend.
Daily News cited police statistics to say that there has been a spike in the number of hate-inspired crimes in New York since Trump’s victory in Presidential election 2016 who said that he would bar Muslims from the US.

Seweid was taken in police custody and had been charged for filing a false report and obstructing governmental administration.
Seweid had reported earlier that three drunk Caucasian men had attempted to tear off her hijab on the New York subway on December 1 while shouting Trump's name. She also posted about the incident on Facebook.
She said ,"They were surrounding me from behind and they were like, 'Oh look, it's an f***ing terrorist,'".
