Kuchipudi performance rocks art lovers in New Jersey!

The art lovers in New Jersey were enchanted after a mesmerizing Kuchipudi dance performance in Raritan Valley Community College in Somerville. The dance drama named 'Kalyana Karthikeyam' was sponsored and organized by Siddhendra Kuchipudi Art Academy (SKAA).

The dance drama was attended by more than 500 people. It was sponsored by Guru Swathi Atluri, the artistic director of SKAA, and choreographed by Guru Hari Rama Murthy of Visakhapatnam. The two-and-half-hour-long performance was performed by 23 students of SKAA and two students from Kalakshetra.

The dance drama unfolded the mythological tale of Karthikeya, the son of Lord Siva who killed demon king Tarakasura, through ballet. The soulful performance presented before the audience the birth of Karthikeya, who later becomes commander-in-chief of an army and kills Tarakasura.

Saranya Turumella played the role of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvathi's role was beautifully essayed by Swathi Atluri. Both Lord Shiva and Parvathi created an ecstatic mood with their cosmic dance.

Guru Hari Rama Murthy himself  played the Tarakasura and his Pravesa Daruvu (entrance number) was one of the highlights.

This event was conducted by Swetha Puranam of SKAA team. The script for this ballet was written by Narayanamuthi and Dandibhotla Srinivasa Sastry performed the vocal.
